Consider using cache files for trail segments and trailheads

The OuterSpatial platform provides convenient static bundles of the OpenTrails geojson files for every organization and application on the platform.

It can significantly to improve load times of an application to use these cache files.

I will put some notes here about how this could work.

The trailheadlabs/OpenTrails-mobile project is good working example of a project that uses a combination of dynamic API calls and cache files to provide a very responsive user experience.
