Claude Code Usage Monitor v2 is here 🎉

We’ve released Claude Code Usage Monitor v2, the biggest update to the project so far.

The original monitor was designed to answer one simple question: “How much usage do I have left?” V2 keeps that quick, always-visible experience, while making the widget substantially more flexible and personal.

What’s new in v2

• A new native settings dashboard
• Theme Studio, with a live canvas, scene tree, and inspector
• Custom widgets built from text, data bars, images, shapes, backgrounds, borders, and nested layers
• Flexible placement across taskbars, system trays, monitors, desktops, and floating windows
• Improved multi-monitor support
• Custom context menus and mouse actions
• Expressions for dynamic layout, visibility, usage values, and reset countdowns
• Theme import and export, including packaged image assets
• A bundled editable Minecraft theme to use as a starting point

The familiar Classic v1 appearance remains the default, so upgrading does not mean you have to redesign anything. Theme Studio is there when you want to make the monitor your own.

V2 continues to support Claude Code, Codex, and Google Antigravity usage.

I love this. How can I change the default 1h in the right with something like {claude.session.reset.hours} hr ? I cannot edit the default 1h (remaining).

What I intend to do, is to have hour and minutes, like the image attached. I managed to create a text layer and add it, but I cannot delete or update the current time that appears 3h .

Ah I see. There is a dark mode and light mode text layer so perhaps you are updating the wrong one. When you hover over the layer it should be outlined in purple in the Preview to know you have the right one. You might also want to turn on 'Live apply' so you can see the changes right away.
The layer to edit is both 'dark Claude Code 5-hour value' and 'light Claude Code 5-hour value' setting the Layer > Text to:
{claude.session.percentage:0}% · {claude.session.reset.hours:0.0} hr
That will give you 5% · 3.5 hr

thanks for the update. The code works perfectly. But the 'dark Claude Code 5-hour value' and 'light Claude Code 5-hour value' change the 5h and 7d text, not the current % and time left to reset. I think that they are embeded from the code and not via layered texts.

Ah the layer is called 'dark Claude Code 5-hour value' notice the 'value' at the end, it's inside the provider, you'll need to expand the provider layer to see it's children.

Thank you for the update. You said "Improved multi-monitor support". I don't see any difference? I would like to be able to choose on which of my 3 screens the widget will go...

In the Theme Studio if you copy the built-in theme to make it editable you can update the 'Reference' under 'Positioning' to select a specific monitor/display.

The multi-monitor support that's been added is very confusing and after spending a half hour trying to tinker with it, I still can't get it right. It doesn't work anything like the original widget does. You've created so many options and features to adjust that I'll probably just uninstall this thing.

All you guys had to do was make it easy to put the widget that was already built on the correct monitor. literally just an extra line item in the tray icon context menu. Seems pretty basic, but instead you've created this elaborate, over-engineered theme editor that doesn't do the thing easily and without excessive amounts of tinkering. Example of software engineers going off on a tangent instead of addressing user requests.

Hi @richhss Thanks for the feedback. Just to clarify one thing, there isn't actually a team working on this, it's just me maintaining it in my spare time along with contributions from others that want to make it better.

One of the challenges has been that there are quite a few people asking for relatively small changes to how the monitor looks or behaves, and sometimes those requests directly conflict with each other. The Theme Studio was my attempt to solve that by letting people configure the app the way they want rather than me having to choose one preference over another.

That said, I completely understand that adding flexibility isn't much use if it becomes difficult to use. Spending half an hour trying to switch the monitor certainly isn't the experience I want anyone to have.

If you're willing, I'd really appreciate any details about what you were trying to change, where you got stuck, or what you expected to happen. That kind of feedback is genuinely useful and I'm happy to improve the Theme Studio and make the common things much easier.
