Add 3 resources: sqlc, MariaDB ColumnStore, MySQL Connector/J (#96)
Automated resource-catalog update for Software & Tools. Checked existing title/link across software/, saas/, books/, plus the open resources/auto-2026-10-08 PR (#91, not yet merged — adds MySQL Router, MySQL NDB Cluster, DoltHub, Percona Database Performance Blog), to avoid duplicates. - sqlc (https://github.com/sqlc-dev/sqlc) — compiles type-safe Go/Kotlin/Python/ TypeScript code directly from SQL queries, with a MySQL engine. Connectors & Drivers. - MariaDB ColumnStore (https://github.com/mariadb-corporation/mariadb-columnstore-engine) — MariaDB's columnar storage engine for analytical workloads. Data Warehouse & Analytics. - MySQL Connector/J (https://github.com/mysql/mysql-connector-j) — Oracle's official JDBC driver for MySQL. Connectors & Drivers. This session's network policy only allows GitHub-family domains, which ruled out several other candidates (TablePlus, Amazon Aurora MySQL, O'Reilly book covers, most SaaS vendor sites) where facts or official logos couldn't be verified from a reachable source — skipped per the "don't guess" rule. sqlc's logo is its GitHub org avatar (a dedicated wordmark); MariaDB ColumnStore and MySQL Connector/J reuse the already-vetted MariaDB and MySQL dolphin logos used elsewhere in the repo, since both are the same vendor/brand. hugo --minify builds clean: 0 errors, all three pages render and are listed on the Software & Tools index. MariaDB ColumnStore stores data by column rather than by row, so queries that scan or aggregate across a small number of columns in a large table — the typical analytical query — read far less data off disk than a row-store engine would. It was built by porting InfiniDB onto MariaDB Server and adding new distributed-storage and parallel-processing capabilities on top, splitting work across separate user-module (UM) and performance-module (PM) processes that can scale out across multiple nodes.

Because it's a storage engine rather than a separate database, ColumnStore tables live inside an ordinary MariaDB Server instance alongside InnoDB or Aria tables, queried with standard SQL over the same connection. The engine is released under GPLv2 and is maintained by MariaDB Corporation as part of the mariadb-corporation GitHub organization; its source isn't meant to be built standalone outside of a MariaDB Server build.

MySQL Connector/J is the official pure-Java driver that lets any JDBC-based application — application servers, connection pools, ORMs like Hibernate — talk to MySQL without a native client library. Alongside classic JDBC, it implements the MySQL X DevAPI, giving Java code a document-style CRUD interface over the X Protocol as an alternative to writing SQL directly.
18+
19+
It's released under GPLv2 with a FOSS exception (the same dual-licensing model Oracle uses across the MySQL product line), developed in the `mysql` GitHub organization, and is currently at version 26.7.0 after more than 3,200 commits.

sqlc inverts the usual ORM workflow: instead of describing a schema through model classes and letting a library generate SQL, you write ordinary SQL queries and point sqlc at them alongside your schema. It parses and type-checks the SQL at build time, then generates idiomatic, fully type-safe code to call those exact queries, catching a typo'd column or a type mismatch before the code ever runs rather than at query time in production.

Code generation for Go, Kotlin, Python, and TypeScript ships as separate plugins alongside the core compiler, and additional languages can be added through the community plugin system. The project is released under the MIT license, is maintained by sqlc-dev (Riza, Inc.), and has around 18k stars on GitHub.
