it has come to our attention that this project still uses github.com/pkg/errors

This repository was archived by the owner on Dec 1, 2021. It is now read-only.

Please consider replacing usage of that code with go native errors wrapping
pkg/errors#245

pkg/errors is currently getting restored into a maintenance mode as per this PR by Moby maintainers.

Just to provide extra context; maintenance is picked up because some projects (at least https://github.com/moby/buildkit) make use of its ability to provide stack-traces. If your project depends / depended on pkg/errors purely for the option to "wrap" errors, then switching to stdlib is still a sane choice (as native error-wrapping (%w and similar) is part of stdlib since go1.13); if you decide to migrate to stdlib, make sure to look for some pitfalls when rewriting; pkg/errors.Wrap / pkg/errors.Wrapf for convenience ignore nil errors when wrapping; rewriting to fmt.Errorf would unconditionally return an error, so an extra if err != nil is required.
