This is a known issue that was partially addressed but not fully resolved. PR #32727 fixed a backend generator protocol problem (return; yield → yield from ()) in _handle_annotation_reply_event [1], and that fix is included in v1.13.3. However, the stream termination problem you're seeing persists because of a frontend bug.

The root cause is in web/app/components/base/chat/chat/hooks.ts — when annotation replies are processed, the onMessageEnd callback performs an early return without calling handleResponding(false) [2]. This means the UI stays locked in a "Generating" state even though the backend has finished sending the response. The chat only unlocks when the SSE stream physically closes, which can take noticeably longer or not happen cleanly in some conditions.

As a workaround, you could manually patch the frontend code to add handleResponding(false) before the early return in the annotation reply branch of hooks.ts. This should properly unlock the chat UI when an annotation match occurs.
