0.8.2 - RC Issue Tracker

Putting this issue to track any quirks building and testing 0.8.2 Release Candidates.

Please reply to this issue and report any bugs / issues with the examples in the 0.8.2 RC builds.
Or any compile errors you come across.

I will break out separate issues from this list for anything that can't be quickly addressed.

• assimpExample linking error ( VS )
• need new PG for OS X ping @ofZach
• need fixed PG for iOS
• vsync not working on Windows ( VS )
• ofxVectorGraphics add ons needs to be removed from iOS release
• ofxKinect add-on needs to be removed from iOS release.
• Error on iOS with SoundInputStream.m / SoundOutputStream.m ( easy fix )

ok,seems i got issue with assimp example under the VS

For linux64 on building:
in assimpExample

@samdraz did you do anything to the download apart from unzipping it? looking at the uncompressed tar.gz for linux64 I see foxOscMessage::addBlobArg and foxOscMessage::getArgAsBlob.
Same with the assimp stuff.

I don't seem to be getting vsync on windows, though that's apparently supposed to have been fixed #2525 ? For example, running the 3d primitives example gets me a frame rate of ~900. Ping @arturoc

I'm also getting the same link error as @liquidzym in the modelNoiseExample. I thought at first it had to do with #3025 but I guess that'd have to involve time travel :)

@ofTheo,forgot i had a OF_ROOT(pointing 0.8.1) variable set in bash which caused this error, now all example are building properly except threadExample which needs change.

@admsyn - if you do ofSetVerticalSync(true) does that not work?
do you have your NVIDIA / AMD settings set to force vertical sync off? ( the graphics card settings can override the OF in app settings )

@ofTheo It's just the 3dPrimitivesExample, which does an ofSetVerticalSync(true) and doesn't manually set the framerate.

I tried fiddling with the AMD settings and it's a little odd how it works out.

In my AMD settings I have vsync set to "Off, unless application specifies". In this case ofSetVerticalSync doesn't seem to have any effect, and vsync is always off.

If I set it to "On, unless application specifies", then ofSetVerticalSync works fine, including doing ofSetVerticalSync(false) to turn vsync off.

Definitely seems worth investigating. I'll see if I can duplicate on my end.

@admsyn - this seems to be the answer: glfw/glfw#177
switching my theme to Classic Mode - enables correct behavior.

to fix this we would need to rebuild GLFW for VS/CB with
#define _GLFW_USE_DWM_SWAP_INTERVAL 1

set.

@arturoc not sure if you want to do that before the next RC?
