Add interop/tinkerpop: Gremlin vs mask hop chain parity harness (A1) - #89
Conversation
Copies three RowStore.openWithEdges fixtures into TinkerGraph 3.7.7
(test-oracle copy, rule E2) and compares Graph.from(seeds).hop(KNOWS)^k
.count() with g.V(seeds).out("knows")^k.dedup().count() for k = 1..3.
All 9 counts are equal; the pinned fixture reproduces GraphHopTest's 19
and 29. Walk counts without dedup() are higher on every fixture, and the
suite requires that difference so it can tell a bag from a set.
Disable-verified: one hop short turns all 9 comparisons red.
Lives outside consumers/ because the java-suites CI job compiles that
tree without TinkerPop. Jars are pinned with sha256 in deps.lock;
fetch-deps.sh retries on HTTP 429. Nothing in src/main changed.

📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughAdds a TinkerPop parity harness that compares lance-graph hop counts with deduplicated Gremlin counts across three fixtures. Adds scripts to fetch dependencies and run the harness, then wires it into CI. ChangesTinkerPop parity harness

Two steps at the end of the java-suites job: fetch-deps.sh pulls the 19 sha256-pinned jars, then run.sh compiles and runs TinkerParityTest with LGJ_JDK pointed at the JDK 28 EA setup-java installed for the job. fetch-deps.sh: each curl attempt gets --connect-timeout 20 --max-time 120, so a stalled transfer times out and the retry loop advances instead of eating the job's time limit. The final count reads deps.lock, not lib/. run.sh: the classpath is built from the jars pinned in deps.lock, never a lib/ wildcard, so a stale jar left in lib/ cannot shadow a pinned one. A missing pinned jar fails with a pointer to fetch-deps.sh. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AhMhXd2gDhYzTgwKeHaWHB
What
interop/tinkerpop/is a parity harness for quick win A1. It builds one seeded graph, runs it on two engines, and checks that they give the same answers.RowStore.openWithEdgesfixtures.Graph.from(seeds).hop(KNOWS)^k.count()(the mask hop chain);g.V(seeds).out("knows")^k.dedup().count()(Gremlin).The harness lives outside
consumers/on purpose, because thejava-suitesCI job compiles everything underconsumers/without TinkerPop on the classpath. Nothing insrc/mainchanges.CI: two steps at the end of
java-suitesrun it:fetch-deps.shdownloads the sha256-pinned jars;run.shcompiles and runs the harness, withLGJ_JDKpointed at the JDK 28 EA thatsetup-javaalready installs for the job (28-ea, Temurin).Measured (JDK 28-ea+18, abi 0.12, avx512)
dedup(), Gremlin counts walks, which are higher on every fixture. The suite requires that difference. Only thededup()form may be lowered to a mask chain.Gates
deps.lock.fetch-deps.shrefuses any mismatch and retries on HTTP 429.LATEST_STATE,PR_ARC_INVENTORY).Not in this PR
