Why

currentColor is the engine's default and the field opens on it. The swatch cannot render
it — input[type=color] refuses anything that is not #rrggbb and silently keeps the
last valid value — so the picker resolves the inherited colour in an effect.

The ref was not attached to the element. root.current was therefore null, the effect
returned early, and ?? "#000000" did the rest.

Change outline

The swatch showed black for dots that were not black, and nothing failed.

A fallback that hides a missing ref is part of the defect, not a safety net — it converts
a wiring mistake into a plausible wrong answer.

Special things to note

  • Reversibility: one attribute. Review focus is whether #000000 should remain the last
resort at all, or whether an unresolvable currentColor should leave the swatch unset
    instead.
  • Found by driving the deployed page over CDP. A screenshot showed a black swatch sitting
next to correctly-coloured dots — something no unit test in this repo could have surfaced,
since jsdom does not resolve color into getComputedStyle and the inherited branch is
    only observable in a browser.
  • The test therefore pins the contract rather than the colour: the swatch must never be
handed the literal string currentColor. That is the assertion that was missing when the
    ref came off.
  • 249 tests, oxlint 0.

  • Bug Fixes

  • Tests
    • Updated the swatch test to verify it displays a six-digit hexadecimal color rather than the literal currentColor.
  • Documentation
    • Clarified the color-resolution behavior and test expectations in the changelogs.

The ColorPicker root element now receives the ref used to resolve inherited currentColor. The test checks the swatch value directly, and the changelogs document the test contract.

The swatch fix is present, but a regression could restore the black swatch without failing the component test, and readers may miss the fix under the “Added” headings. These localized issues make the merge risk low, with test and changelog updates recommended.

1098-1108: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Assert the inherited color through ColorPicker.

If the root ref is removed, the effect returns before resolving currentColor. The swatch then uses #000000. The current test accepts that value because it checks only the hexadecimal format. The direct resolveComputed test does not cover this component wiring because it supplies its own host element.

Add a component-level test in the `ColorPicker` playground tests that verifies
`currentColor` is resolved from the picker root and reaches the native swatch as
the expected hex value. Mock `getComputedStyle` for the `.color-picker` root,
rerender the component with that style, and assert the resolved swatch value so
removing the root ref causes the test to fail.

Comment thread CHANGELOG.md

### Added

- the swatch is resolved in an effect, and the ref is actually ON the element. Both got broken while editing this and nothing failed: a ref that is not attached reads as null, the effect returns early, and `?? "#000000"` does the rest — so a fallback that HIDES a missing ref is itself part of the defect. jsdom does not resolve `color` into `getComputedStyle`, so the inherited branch is only observable in a browser; what the test pins is the contract that let it slip, namely that the swatch is never handed the literal string.

Move this bug-fix entry out of the “Added” category. It corrects existing swatch behavior, so place each language version under its equivalent “Fixed” category.

  • CHANGELOG.zh.md#L26-L26: move the entry from ### 新增 to ### 修复.
