Re-running the CI workflow on main with "Re-run all jobs" failed in the deploy job (run 37246590215, attempt 2):

Error: Multiple artifacts named "github-pages" were unexpectedly found for this workflow run. Artifact count is 2.

A run keeps the artifacts of every attempt, and actions/deploy-pages looks up the artifact by name across the whole run. This is a known upstream issue (actions/deploy-pages#338), and the latest release (v5.0.1) still has it.

The test job now uploads the website as github-pages-<attempt> and exposes that name as a job output, which deploy passes to deploy-pages as artifact_name:

  • Re-running all jobs uploads and deploys a new, uniquely named artifact.
  • Re-running only deploy should reuse the test job's output from the earlier attempt, so it still names that attempt's artifact.

The deployment steps only run on pushes to main, so this can only be verified after merging: re-run the workflow once with "Re-run all jobs".

A re-run keeps the artifacts of previous attempts, and `deploy-pages`
fails when several artifacts share the same name, so each attempt now
uploads the website under its own name.
