New types being "public" in Base causes tests to fail in 1.11. #102

Closed

Description

@KristofferC
# 1.11
julia> :UUID in propertynames(Base)
true

# 1.10
julia> :UUID in propertynames(Base)
false

Causes this test to fail:

@testset "Built in Julia types" begin
# tuples containing (module, property)
core_properties = map(x -> (Core,x), propertynames(Core))
base_properties = map(x -> (Base,x), propertynames(Base))
for (m, n) in [core_properties; base_properties]
prop = getproperty(m,n)
if typeof(prop) == DataType
struct_type = StructTypes.StructType(prop)
cond = prop <: builtin_type_mapping[StructTypes.StructType(prop)]
if !cond
@warn "Built in type $m.$n is incorrectly parsed as $(StructTypes.StructType(prop))"
end
@test cond
end
end
end

    Confirmed on unchanged main f3dd04929ec5afa15ccd782802af6ed0040d48d2: the full suite passes on Julia 1.10.11, while Julia 1.11.9 and 1.13.1 fail the built-in type check for Base.UUID. UUID already has the intended StringType trait; the test's expected string-type union omits it.

    PR #105 includes the one-line expectation correction. Its full suite also passes on Julia 1.11.9 with four threads and bounds checks. The PR has green CI and remains open for independent approval. No runtime UUID behavior needs changing.

    AI disclosure: This work was prepared with assistance from OpenAI Codex.

    [comment generated via AI] Fixed on main by #105, which adds Base.UUID to the test's expected string types. The full test suite passes locally on Julia 1.10.11, 1.11.9, and 1.13.1, and main CI passes on 1.6, 1.13, and nightly.
