fix(pr-review): review interface code for correctness, with UI recall eval cases - #2017
In the 99 reviews posted since #1973, the reviewer's findings were accurate: every warning it filed was real, and almost all were fixed. Its recall on UI changes was close to zero. About 30 reviews in a row reported no findings. On #2015, #1950 and #1972 it scored 10/10 while another reviewer found real defects on the same heads, and the author fixed them:
an aria-label that hides a card's finding text from screen readers;
a preview clipped at the lg breakpoint;
a long org name pushing Back off the screen;
Escape closing a panel without saving the typed edit;
a draft page labelled "is live";
a client listing rule that differs from the publisher's.
The check run on #2015 shows why. The reviewer labelled the change "presentation-only", checked that every class resolved to a token, and stopped. The prompt covers backend risks (observability, PII, queries) and says nothing about view code.
What changes
Prompt. A new "Interface code" section says views, styles and copy get a correctness review like any other change, and that "presentation-only" is a claim to test. It lists five things to look for:
an edit lost on one way out (Escape, Enter, a click outside, switching mode or step);
text that's wrong for a state the view can reach;
an accessible name that drops information;
layout that doesn't fit, with the widths added up at the narrowest viewport and the longest allowed value;
a client copy of a server rule.
The prompt is shared by every repository the reviewer covers, so nothing in the section is Maple-specific.
Eval corpus. 9 new cases in pr-review-eval/corpus.json:
review:eval run on deepseek/deepseek-v4.1-flash-1017:nitro (production), old prompt vs new. Totals cover three batches: the UI cases ran 5 times per prompt, the older backend cases 5 times (#261 9 times). I graded the UI findings against the code at the pinned head. For the older cases I counted target hits only.
the client forms skip the server's 120-character name cap;
choosing Delete in the page menu drops the menu's commands;
text-severity-ok is a class no CSS defines (still true on main, at view-live.ts:79).
The worker prompt also carries the five checks now (review-fanout.ts). The harness holds the worker prompt fixed across variants, so the table measures the parent prompt only.
vitest passes for src/chat/prompts.test.ts, agents.test.ts, review-fanout.test.ts and run-review-fanout.test.ts.
Not verified
No generalisation shown. The holdout is 1/10 with both prompts, so the gain is on the cases the section was written from.
Three UI cases still fail. The clipped preview, the long-name overflow and the listing-rule divergence were 0/5 with both prompts. The arithmetic instruction does not take on this model.
Worker prompt not measured. The child-reviewer change has not been evaluated on its own.

New Features
AI-generated pull request reviews now check interface changes for unsaved edits when leaving, text that doesn’t match the current state, accessibility issues with names or focus, and layout problems on narrow screens with long content.
Reviews also check for client-side validation rules that differ from server-side rules. These checks broaden the interface issues reviewers can identify.
… eval cases
The reviewer scored UI pull requests 10/10 after checking only that class
names resolved, while another reviewer found real defects on the same heads
(#2015, #1950, #1972). The prompt gains an "Interface code" section: edits
lost on one way out, text wrong for a reachable state, accessible names that
drop information, layout arithmetic at the narrowest viewport, and client
copies of server rules.
The eval corpus gains those misses as cases: #2015 and #1950 in development
(the section was written from them) and #1972 as a holdout.

only still-valid issues, skip the rest with a brief reason, keep changes
minimal, and validate.

Walkthrough
The review prompt adds checks for interface changes. The evaluation corpus adds nine cases covering onboarding, status-page editing and preview behavior, route gating, and audit metadata. The README summarizes the corpus additions.
PR_REVIEW_SYSTEM_PROMPT adds checks for preserving edits on exit paths, state-specific copy, accessible names and focus, narrow layouts, and client/server rule consistency.
Evaluation cases and corpus notes apps/ai/scripts/pr-review-eval/corpus.json, apps/ai/scripts/pr-review-eval/README.md
The corpus adds nine enabled cases: seven development cases and two holdouts. Eight expect findings to be present; one post-fix accessibility control expects the finding to be absent. The README summarizes the added cases.
MapleTechLabs/maple#1972: This PR adds two holdout cases for findings involving its flag-gated redirects and audit entries.
MapleTechLabs/maple#1950: This PR adds three development cases for findings involving Escape behavior, draft labeling, and client/publisher rule divergence.
Merge Risk: Low · previous review 07d18
The prompt addition and the new evaluation cases are low risk to merge. The documented development evaluation will fail in a fresh clone until the PR-head commits are fetched, so add the fetch step to the README or have the runner fetch missing revisions.

… fetches pinned PR heads
Over 12 files the parent delegates groups to child reviewers and does not re-read their diffs, so the interface-code checks have to be in the worker prompt too. The eval README now fetches the PR heads the corpus pins, so a fresh clone can run it.
🟢 Confidence 10/10 · safe to merge. Prompt-text only, no code paths change; the author's own eval shows no holdout gain and a possible #261 recall drop, which more repeats must settle. no findings · tests not needed · risk low
Adds an "Interface code" section to the PR review prompt and one condensed line of the same checks to the fan-out worker prompt, with nine UI eval cases. Text-only change; nothing at runtime changes shape, so it is safe to merge.
PR_REVIEW_SYSTEM_PROMPT gains five interface-code checks (lost edits, wrong state text, aria-label, widths, client rules)
PR_REVIEW_WORKER_PROMPT carries the same checks in one line so child reviewers apply them
Nine UI eval cases added to the corpus, two of them held out
