Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
When "Stay on top" (the pin button) is off and I click another application, the QuickLook window goes behind it. Since QuickLook has no taskbar icon, there's no way to bring the window back to the front. I have to close whatever is covering it, or dismiss and reopen the preview. This is especially frustrating with audio/video previews, which keep playing in the background while I can't reach the controls.
Describe the solution you'd like
Any one of these would solve it:
- Show a taskbar icon while the window is unpinned, or add an opt-in setting such as "Show in taskbar".
- Add a global hotkey to restore the preview window.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Keeping "Stay on top" always on avoids the problem, but then the window covers other apps, which defeats the purpose of turning it off.
Additional context
QuickLook version: 4.5.0
Windows version: 11
Reproduction: preview any audio file, turn "Stay on top" off, click a maximized app so it covers the preview, then try to get back to the preview window.
