Issue description

In the release notes for SPFx 1.24, it says:

In this initial preview, components render only in the Copilot UX. Support for additional surfaces is in the works.

Is it it possible to share what these "other surfaces" are? Maybe in the SPFx roadmap?

    👋 Hi Anthony (@anthonywhite),

Thank you for reporting this issue. Here is an AI-generated initial response:

Classification: Feature request — you’re asking Microsoft to name and schedule additional hosting surfaces; no current behavior is reported as broken.

    • In the SPFx 1.24 preview, Copilot UX components render in the Microsoft 365 Copilot experience. The overview discusses reusing their underlying UI in SharePoint and Teams, but does not confirm direct hosting there or give dates.
    • The published SPFx roadmap does not identify the additional surfaces or a delivery schedule.

Existing coverage: Cross-surface UI reuse is documented; a specific host rollout is not.

    What to do now:

    1. Plan Copilot UX component testing around the documented preview surface; don’t use the preview in production.
    2. If you need the same UI in SharePoint or Teams now, put shared UI behind an SPFx web part, which can be exposed as a Teams tab.
    3. Specify which additional surface matters most so the team can address the roadmap question precisely.

    Hi Anthony,

    Thanks for raising this question.

The current SharePoint Framework v1.24 preview release notes confirm that Copilot UX components currently render only in the Copilot UX, with support for additional surfaces still in progress. The documentation does not yet identify what those additional surfaces will be.

We appreciate the suggestion to provide more visibility through the SPFx roadmap. Please keep an eye on the SPFx/Copilot documentation for updates as additional details are published.
