- Python versions and environments in the SDK Manager: the Pythons on your machine (
PATH, Homebrew, pyenv, uv, conda) and each folder's virtual environments. Download Python versions, and pick one per folder or for every folder. - Your project's own environment: a folder uses its
.venv(or the version in.python-version) until you pick another. - Folders of several projects: each project (
pyproject.toml,setup.py,requirements.txt, a.venv, …) gets its own Pyright, on its own environment; a project without one uses the folder's Python. - Pyright and new terminals use the chosen Python:
pythonandpipare the environment's, andVIRTUAL_ENVis set. - Python: Select Interpreter, Python: Create Environment and Python: Run Python File in Terminal, and the project's Python in the status bar.
- Without Pyright, interpreters and environments still work.
