The official Python extension for Lumide IDE.
lumide_python provides first-class Python support in Lumide using the Pyright language server.
- IntelliSense, diagnostics, navigation and hover from Pyright.
- Per project: in a folder of several Python projects, each project (a folder with
pyproject.toml,setup.py,setup.cfg,requirements.txt,Pipfile,pyrightconfig.jsonor a.venv) gets its own Pyright, on its own environment.
- Python in the SDK Manager: the Pythons on your machine (
PATH, Homebrew, pyenv, uv, conda) and the virtual environments of each folder and its projects. - Download Python: install any CPython version for Lumide, from the python-build-standalone builds uv uses, checked against their SHA-256.
- One Python per folder: pick one for a folder or for every folder. Without a choice, a project uses its own
.venv(or the version in.python-version), then its folder's Python, then your default. - Everywhere: Pyright and new terminals use the chosen Python, so
pythonandpipare the environment's andVIRTUAL_ENVis set. - Status bar: the Python of the active file's project; click it to pick another.
