Fix starter funnel and analytics traffic classification - #1437
Restore the missing Application Starter funnel entry event and fix analytics issues confirmed in the October 26 tracking audit. Starter views fire once per mount; blog partner lists use blog_grid; stats URLs omit chart state; local and preview hosts cannot initialize the production GA tag.
Traffic quality v2 preserves session-based browser detection, flags the tenth distinct partner click and later events, and adds Cloudflare bot/network labels at the collection proxy. Datacenter traffic has its own label because VPN users can share hosting networks. GET, POST and batched collections retain their existing fields. No traffic is blocked based on these labels.
Adds a partitioned session-summary SQL script for lower-cost reporting.
Validation: pnpm test passed, including TypeScript, lint, unit, chat and desktop checks. Added regression coverage for distinct-partner counting across reloads/session changes, network labels, batched label precedence, clean stats URLs and preview-host suppression. The production-minified traffic bootstrap measures 1,550 gzip bytes versus 1,525 before the change; it adds no request or dependency. Collection parsing is bounded to 64 KiB and network metadata is read once per request.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Analytics
Analytics collection and event tracking are now limited to the primary site.
Page views for npm statistics pages omit query strings and fragments.
Traffic-quality labels incorporate network signals and distinct partner clicks; ten distinct clicks mark a session as automated.
Application starter views and blog partner placements are now tracked.
Session reporting now includes engagement, traffic source, entry-page details, and traffic-quality classifications.
Documentation
Updated traffic-quality guidance explains the classifications, labeling rules, and review considerations.
Merging this PR will not cause a version bump for any packages. If these changes should not result in a new version, you're good to go. If these changes should result in a version bump, you need to add a changeset.
The change updates browser and server analytics traffic-quality classification, limits Google Analytics collection to tanstack.com, adjusts event tracking and /stats/npm URL handling, and adds a BigQuery script that refreshes session reporting partitions.

Summary
Network traffic classification and labeling src/utils/analytics/collection.server.ts, docs/analytics/traffic-quality.md, tests/analytics-collection.test.ts
Cloudflare metadata maps to automated, datacenter, or suspect labels. Collection labeling applies network quality unless the client label is automated, and sets rule version v2.
The browser tracks distinct partner IDs for a GA client/session key. Ten distinct IDs set the session quality to automated; repeated IDs do not increase the count.
Collection request labeling src/server.ts
The collection route returns 204 for requests not addressed to tanstack.com. It labels accepted query and batch events, and reads non-GET/HEAD bodies with a 64 KiB limit.
Analytics adds the application_starter_viewed event and blog_grid placement. Google Analytics runs only on tanstack.com. Analytics URLs for /stats/npm omit query strings and fragments.
The script aggregates GA events by UTC session date, classifies sessions with at least ten distinct partner clicks as automated, and replaces the selected date partitions in a transaction.

The remaining issue is a narrow analytics-documentation mismatch for batched events; the session aggregation behavior is otherwise consistent with the clarified contract.

Keep automatic-only sessions unknown.
If the collection proxy labels an automatic-only session’s session_start event as automated, this CASE stores automated. docs/analytics/traffic-quality.md Line 17 requires sessions containing only automatic events to remain unknown. Aggregate session quality from explicit-event labels, while retaining the proxy label on the event. Google identifies session_start as an automatically collected event. (support.google.com)

Cloudflare's [bot-score guidance](https://developers.cloudflare.com/bots/concepts/bot-score/) defines the score ranges. ASN coverage is deliberately limited and should be reviewed against the network diagnostic samples, not treated as a complete proxy database.
Explicit events queued during a GA session lookup share that lookup. The next event after it completes starts a new lookup. Automatic events do not inherit the browser's previous session classification, but the collection proxy can label them from the current request's network metadata. In BigQuery, classify each session using its strongest event label and join by user_pseudo_id plus ga_session_id. Do not filter individual events and assume you have filtered whole sessions. Sessions containing only automatic events remain unknown unless the proxy supplies a network label. GA UI custom dimensions `traffic_quality` and `traffic_quality_rule` should be registered with event scope; they are present in BigQuery without registration.
Batched automatic events can inherit the URL classification, so this sentence is too broad.
In a batched request, src/server.ts passes upstreamUrl.searchParams.get('ep.traffic_quality') as the sharedQuality argument for every body line. labelAnalyticsCollection uses that value for any line without its own ep.traffic_quality. An automatic event can therefore receive a classification carried in the request URL. If that value is automated, the network label is also suppressed for that line.
Replace the sentence with a narrower statement:
📝 Suggested documentation change
-Automatic events do not inherit the browser's previous session classification, but the collection proxy can label them from the current request's network metadata.+Automatic events in a batched request can take the classification carried in the request URL when they have no `ep.traffic_quality` of their own. The collection proxy can also label them from the current request's network metadata.
