Summary

Fixes #3246.

  • Restore the add-file button when an upload ends, without relying on a block update to remove the loading preview. Successful uploads still replace the placeholder when their URL is applied.
  • Catch rejected uploads in the drop/paste insertion handler and continue processing remaining files. Skip updates if the block was deleted during upload.
  • Clean up the upload-end listener when the node view is destroyed. No public API changes.

Verification

  • Added browser regression tests covering drop and paste with empty URLs, rejected uploads, and successful uploads. The failure cases reproduced the stuck loader before the fix.
  • All 18 cases pass across Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit in Docker.
  • Verified the running playground through the Paseo browser with dispatched drop/paste events and in-memory upload failure simulation. Both failure modes restore the button, successful uploads still work, and no unhandled promise rejections occur.
  • Targeted type-aware lint and formatting checks pass. The pre-commit check also passes.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • File uploads started through paste or drag-and-drop now handle failed or rejected uploads without leaving the loading indicator stuck. The add-file button remains available after an unsuccessful upload.
    • After an upload finishes, the loading preview is removed. Successful uploads continue to display the inserted file with its name and URL.

📝 Walkthrough

Drop and paste file insertion now handles rejected or empty upload results without updating the file block. The file wrapper restores the add-file button when an upload ends. Browser tests cover successful and unsuccessful uploads for both event types.

Changes: Drop and paste upload recovery

Layer / File(s) Summary
Upload failure handling and block recovery
packages/core/src/api/clipboard/fromClipboard/handleFileInsertion.ts, packages/core/src/blocks/File/helpers/render/createFileBlockWrapper.ts, packages/core/src/api/clipboard/fromClipboard/handleFileInsertion.browser.test.ts
Rejected uploads are treated as undefined, and the handler skips updates for undefined results or missing blocks. The wrapper restores the add-file button when an upload ends. Browser tests cover drop and paste with empty, rejected, and successful upload results.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description is detailed and directly covers the fix, affected behavior, tests, browser coverage, and validation results. It does not use every template heading, and it omits the checklist and screenshots section, but the required technical information is mostly present.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #3246 requires failed drop and paste uploads to avoid a stuck loading block and requires rejected upload promises to be caught. handleFileInsertion.ts catches rejected uploadFile calls, skips updates for undefined results or deleted blocks, and continues processing. createFileBlockWrapper.ts restores the add-file button on onUploadEnd; successful URL updates still replace the node view. The new browser tests cover empty URLs, rejected uploads, and successful uploads for both drop and paste.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changed production files implement the failure handling and loading-preview restoration required by issue #3246. The new browser tests verify these behaviors. The upload-end listener cleanup prevents a destroyed node view from retaining the listener. No unrelated change is shown.

A rabbit watched the spinner glow,
Then saw the button reappear.
A dropped file found its way to rest,
A pasted one did too.
The hare thumped once, then hopped away,
While tests checked each upload through.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Keep the loader visible until all uploads for the block end.

If two editor.uploadFile calls use the same block ID, the first upload-end event restores the add-file button while the second upload is still running. The editor emits an upload-end event for each call. Track active uploads for this block, and restore the button only after the last upload ends. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
