fix(upgrade): keep Smarty 4 quote repair inside its own tag - #295
The preflight repair quoted an xo* plugin argument up to the closing }> of a directly following tag, so <{xoAppUrl /}><{$item.file}> became <{xoAppUrl '/}><{$item.file'}>. Argument classes now stop at { } >, $variable arguments stay unquoted, tags damaged by earlier runs are restored, and the scanner reports them as brokenquotes. The scanner report escapes matched text. Fixes#294
Summary by Sourcery
Keep Smarty 4 quote repair scoped to individual xo* tags while recovering earlier damaged output.
Bug Fixes:
Prevent Smarty 4 upgrade repairs from quoting arguments across adjacent template tags.
Restore templates damaged by earlier cross-tag quote repairs and preserve variable arguments as variables.
Report previously damaged quotes as auto-fixable scanner issues.
Enhancements:
Escape matched template text safely in scanner reports, including invalid UTF-8 input.
Documentation:
Add the Smarty 4 quote-repair fix to the changelog.
Tests:
Add coverage for quote repair idempotence, corrupted templates, scanner detection, and escaped report output.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Improved Smarty 4 template repairs to quote literal arguments without changing variable arguments or values already in quotes.
Prevented repairs from adding quotes across adjacent template tags and added recovery for templates affected by earlier incorrect repairs.
The upgrade report now identifies damaged quotes as auto-fixable and safely displays matched text and file paths, including text with invalid characters.
FixesXOOPS#294
The PR fixes Smarty 4 preflight quote repair by bounding xo* argument matching to each tag, leaving variable arguments untouched, and undoing earlier cross-tag corruption. It adds brokenquotes scanning and safely escaped reporting, with regression tests covering repair behavior, idempotence, detection, and output.

Walkthrough
Smarty 4 template repair now limits quote handling to the current tag and preserves variable arguments. The scanner detects broken quotes across adjacent tags, reports their count, and escapes file and match values in report output. Tests cover repair cases, repeated runs, scanner output, and invalid UTF-8.

Summary
Bounded quote repair and regression coverage upgrade/class/Xoops/Upgrade/Smarty4TemplateRepair.php, upgrade/tests/Upgrade/Smarty4TemplateRepairTest.php, docs/changelog.270.txt
Repair patterns stop at Smarty tag boundaries and leave variable arguments unquoted. New patterns correct quotes spanning adjacent tags and variables quoted into literal text. Tests cover repair cases and repeated runs. The changelog describes the changes.
Broken-quote detection and reporting upgrade/class/Xoops/Upgrade/Smarty4TemplateChecks.php, upgrade/class/Xoops/Upgrade/Smarty4ScannerOutput.php, upgrade/tests/Upgrade/Smarty4TemplateRepairTest.php
The scanner detects broken quotes and reports matches with file and writability metadata. The report displays the broken-quote count and escapes file and match values. Tests check scanner counts and invalid UTF-8 output.
XOOPS/XoopsCore27#294 — The repair patterns limit matching to one Smarty tag and preserve variable arguments. The scanner also reports broken quotes.

🟡 Changes recommended
Legacy quote-corruption handling still turns variable arguments into literals and misses multi-tag or trailing-whitespace forms in both detection and repair, leaving broken URLs and affected files falsely marked clean.

Recovery and the brokenquotes scan now cover arguments quoted across any number of following tags, with text between them or whitespace before the closing }>, and variables the old repair quoted into literals, including modifiers, indexes and later arguments. A quoted $digit literal is left alone. The scanner report keeps matches that hold invalid UTF-8.

🟡 Changes recommended
An active moderate finding shows the recovery rule can incorrectly rewrite a quoted "$5" literal, violating the documented behavior for dollar-prefixed literals.

Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Do not automatically unquote intentional literals.
<{xoAppUrl '$header.svg'}> is a valid literal, but this rule rewrites it as a variable expression and saves the change to the template. Smarty does not interpolate variables in single-quoted strings. (smarty-php.github.io)
The damaged and intentional forms are indistinguishable here. Report these matches for manual review instead of automatically rewriting them.

Recovery of an argument quoted across tags treats it as a variable only when $ starts a valid identifier, so a damaged '$5}><{$x' keeps $5 as a literal. A variable the old attribute patterns quoted with a trailing space, such as '$x ', is restored and reported as brokenquotes.

Smarty variable names may start with digits ($5foo), so the quote recovery and the brokenquotes scanner rule accept them. Double quotes are unquoted only in a tag directly after a single quote, the one place the old repair wrote them; elsewhere "$theme.css" is $theme followed by .css and stays as written.

The earlier repair quoted across an empty first argument (<{xoAppUrl '}><{$x'}>); restore it by dropping both quotes. The attribute patterns also quoted a lone space in an empty tag; require the argument to start with a non-space character.

Fixes #294
