fix(inspections): newbb false positives and MenuAutoload fixtures for alpha 5 - #11
Alpha 5 preparation: four inspection false positives found in a run over three newbb trees, each checked against the module source and pinned with a fixture, regression fixtures for the admin/menu.php autoloader quick-fix, and a new INSPECTIONS.md that documents all 52 inspections. Version bumped to 1.0.0-alpha.5 with a changelog section.
Motivation
An Inspect Code run over newbb (270test4, 274test0, 280test1 copies) produced findings about files nothing executes and about idioms that are correct. The autoloader quick-fix was also reported as inserting right after <?php on a <?php declare(strict_types=1); file; that defect was in the Marketplace Alpha 4 jar, and this code base already inserts above the loading statement, so the real file is now a fixture that holds it there. The README's inspection table dated from Alpha 3 and TUTORIAL had no list at all.
Approach
DeprecatedCoreApi no longer names synchronization(): it is the module handlers' own method (99 calls in newbb), and the core method carries no deprecation tag.
InstallSql and SqlFileComment look only at the file the installer runs: sql/mysql.sql, or a file the manifest names. Adminer and phpMyAdmin dumps and old upgrade scripts in the same folder are never split by SqlUtility; they were 237 + 111 findings.
Unlink accepts an SplFileInfo check: $info->isFile() or isLink() dominating unlink($info->getRealPath()), or a variable assigned from $info->getPathname().
MenuAutoload fixtures: same-line strict_types declare, header comment block, a bootstrap.php require that already loads the autoloader (no finding), and newbb's real file with two spaces after <?php and CRLF endings (kept byte-exact through .gitattributes).
Build:gradlew test -PlocalIde=<PhpStorm install dir> runs the suite against an installed IDE, so a parser change in a newer PhpStorm is caught before a report comes in.
Docs:INSPECTIONS.md lists every inspection with its default level, what it reports, what the quick-fix changes and when it stays silent, written from the description pages PhpStorm shows in its settings. README replaces its Alpha 3 table with a summary and a link; TUTORIAL links to the page.
Testing
Full suite: 184 tests, 0 failures, on the pinned 2024.3.5 platform.
The MenuAutoload fixtures also pass against an installed PhpStorm 2026.3 through -PlocalIde.
A script check confirms every shortName registered in plugin.xml has a section and an index row in INSPECTIONS.md (52 of 52).

Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Improved file-deletion checks to recognize applicable safety guards on SplFileInfo objects.
Limited installer SQL inspections to files the installer may run, avoiding findings on unrelated SQL dumps and upgrade scripts.
Template inspections now skip files in test trees.
The deprecated API inspection no longer flags calls to synchronization().
Documentation
Added a guide to all 52 inspections, including default levels, reported issues, quick fixes, and exclusions.
Updated the README and tutorial to link to the inspection guide.
… alpha 5
DeprecatedCoreApi no longer names synchronization(): it is the module handlers' own method and the core method carries no deprecation tag. InstallSql and SqlFileComment look only at the file the installer runs (sql/mysql.sql or a file the manifest names); dumps and old upgrade scripts beside it are skipped. Unlink accepts an SplFileInfo isFile()/isLink() check on the object whose getRealPath()/getPathname() is unlinked. MenuAutoload gains fixtures for a same-line strict_types declare, header comments, a bootstrap require, and newbb's real CRLF file. gradlew test -PlocalIde=<dir> runs the suite against an installed IDE. Version 1.0.0-alpha.5, changelog section added.
Alpha 5 removes four classes of inspection false positives by narrowing deprecated and SQL analysis, recognizing SplFileInfo validation for unlink, and regression-testing MenuAutoload placement across strict-types, comments, bootstrap, and CRLF cases; it also adds local-IDE test support, byte-preserving fixture configuration, and release metadata.

This change updates deprecated API, SplFileInfo unlink, installer SQL, and template inspection behavior. It adds regression fixtures and tests, inspection documentation, Alpha 5 release settings, and support for testing against a local IDE.
Installer SQL inspections select module mysql.sql files and SQL paths from active $modversion['sqlfile'] declarations. Tests and fixtures cover manifest parsing, the core schema, and excluded dumps or commented declarations.
The deprecated-method map no longer includes synchronization(). The unlink inspection recognizes supported SplFileInfo path methods and matching isFile() or isLink() checks. Template inspections skip test trees. Regression tests cover these matching rules.
Menu autoload regression fixtures .gitattributes, src/test/kotlin/org/xoops/support/XoopsQuickFixTest.kt, src/test/resources/fixtures/MenuAutoload/*
Fixtures and tests cover strict types, existing bootstrap loading, header comments, whitespace, and CRLF formatting. Git text conversion is disabled for the CRLF fixture directory.
The inspection catalog documents 52 inspections and their conditions. README and tutorial link to the catalog. The changelog records Alpha 5 changes, and the plugin version advances to Alpha 5. The build can use a configured local IDE and otherwise uses PhpStorm 2024.3.5.
XOOPS/phpstorm-plugin#7: This PR adds regression tests and fixtures for the MenuAutoload inspection.

**Symlink targets are deleted**
When a SplFileInfo refers to a symlink and the code unlinks its getRealPath() after an isFile() or isLink() check, checks() treats the check on the SplFileInfo as guarding the resolved path, but getRealPath() returns the symlink target. unlink() therefore deletes the target instead of the link, and the inspection gives no warning.
Do not treat isFile() or isLink() checks on the SplFileInfo as guards for unlinking its resolved real path.

**Custom checks suppress unlink warnings**
When a custom path-like object has isFile() or isLink() methods with unrelated semantics, checks() matches those methods by name and receiver text without confirming the receiver is a SplFileInfo, so a custom object can suppress the warning for an unchecked unlink.
Only use these method checks as guards when the receiver is confirmed to be a SplFileInfo.

</code_context>
<issue_to_address>
**Reassigned paths inherit stale guards**
When the unlink variable has branch-dependent assignments or its receiver is reassigned after the guard, php.resolveAssignment() selects a textual assignment without accounting for control flow, and the matching logic uses receiver text without invalidating the guard after reassignment. An unrelated or unchecked path therefore inherits the SPL guard, suppressing the unlink warning.
Track the resolved receiver and path through control flow, and invalidate a guard when the variable may refer to a different object or path.

<issue_to_address>
**Directory paths inherit file guards**
When code unlinks $info->getPath() after checking $info->isFile() or $info->isLink(), getPath() returns the containing directory, not the represented file, but splPaths makes checks() match a check on the SplFileInfo as a guard for that directory path. The inspection suppresses the warning, and unlinking the directory path fails.
Remove getPath from splPaths so checks on the represented file do not guard an unlink of its containing directory.

<issue_to_address>
**OR conditions bypass guards**
When an isFile() check is one arm of an OR condition whose other arm can pass independently, checks() accepts a positive isFile() call without proving that the condition requires it to succeed, so dominated() treats the check as a guard even when another branch allows unlink() to run without it.
Only treat a check as a guard when every path to unlink requires that check to succeed.

…d docs
InstallSql and SqlFileComment read the manifest through the PHP parser: a module file counts when it is mysql.sql or the target of a sqlfile assignment or array entry, resolved from the module root, with every database entry read. Comments, strings, nowdocs, comparisons, index reads, destructuring and .= no longer count as declarations. The core install/sql schema has no module manifest and stays inspected, as it was before this branch.
Unlink pairs SplFileInfo checks with the accessor they cover: isFile() with getRealPath() and getPathname(), isLink() with getPathname() only. getPath() is the parent directory and is covered by neither. The template-registration rules skip test trees like every other rule.
Docs: the tutorial no longer says assets/js is inspected, INSPECTIONS.md lists the excluded and third-party trees, and three description pages are updated. tools/gen_descriptions.py is rebuilt from the 52 shipped pages, which it now reproduces byte for byte with LF endings.

- sql/mysql.sql is assumed only when the manifest names no file; a
leftover mysql.sql beside a selected sql/english/install.sql, or any
other file named mysql.sql, is no longer inspected.
- sqlfile must be the first key after $modversion:

runtime ('sql/' . XOOPS_DB_TYPE . '.sql') and may resolve to it. Each
sqlfile value that is not a constant string now counts as unresolved,
and an unresolved entry keeps the fallback.
'mysql' => false (or null, or '') was read as a path built at runtime,
which kept the sql/mysql.sql fallback and inspected a file the
installer never runs. Such an entry is now declared-but-disabled: it
turns the fallback off. $modversion['sqlfile'] = false, which used to
fall back to mysql.sql, is covered too.

Summary
Alpha 5 preparation: four inspection false positives found in a run over three newbb trees, each checked against the module source and pinned with a fixture, regression fixtures for the
admin/menu.phpautoloader quick-fix, and a newINSPECTIONS.mdthat documents all 52 inspections. Version bumped to1.0.0-alpha.5with a changelog section.Motivation
An Inspect Code run over newbb (270test4, 274test0, 280test1 copies) produced findings about files nothing executes and about idioms that are correct. The autoloader quick-fix was also reported as inserting right after
<?phpon a<?php declare(strict_types=1);file; that defect was in the Marketplace Alpha 4 jar, and this code base already inserts above the loading statement, so the real file is now a fixture that holds it there. The README's inspection table dated from Alpha 3 and TUTORIAL had no list at all.Approach
synchronization(): it is the module handlers' own method (99 calls in newbb), and the core method carries no deprecation tag.sql/mysql.sql, or a file the manifest names. Adminer and phpMyAdmin dumps and old upgrade scripts in the same folder are never split by SqlUtility; they were 237 + 111 findings.SplFileInfocheck:$info->isFile()orisLink()dominatingunlink($info->getRealPath()), or a variable assigned from$info->getPathname().strict_typesdeclare, header comment block, abootstrap.phprequire that already loads the autoloader (no finding), and newbb's real file with two spaces after<?phpand CRLF endings (kept byte-exact through.gitattributes).gradlew test -PlocalIde=<PhpStorm install dir>runs the suite against an installed IDE, so a parser change in a newer PhpStorm is caught before a report comes in.INSPECTIONS.mdlists every inspection with its default level, what it reports, what the quick-fix changes and when it stays silent, written from the description pages PhpStorm shows in its settings. README replaces its Alpha 3 table with a summary and a link; TUTORIAL links to the page.Testing
