feat(tools): route the remaining write tools through the guard (U7, #1375) - #1918
This PR routes the remaining write tools - apply_diff, write_to_file, edit, edit_file, search_replace - through the same guard, so after this unit no tool path can clobber a file the model never read: an unearned write fails with the re-read remediation instead of overwriting. A write outside every workspace root is no longer an outright rejection: the tool layer classifies against all workspace folders, asks the user, and forwards the approval to the guard, which re-checks containment against the approved roots before publishing.
It is the seventh of nine PRs for epic #1375 (chain tracked on #1991).

Tracking: issue 2022 (this unit's tracking issue; deliberately not a closing reference - the maintainer closes it when the series lands).
Refs: #1991 (chain tracking), #1375 (epic).
Description
What this PR changes:
apply_diff, write_to_file, edit, edit_file and search_replace all save through DiffViewProvider.saveDirectly() / guardedWrite() with an explicit write kind, so a targeted edit is never treated as a full-file replacement.
The tools' own reads (the diff hunk read, the patch hunk read) bracket the read with a bigint fs.stat pair and observe the file only when both tokens match, so the publish is authorized by the exact bytes the tool computed its hunks from; a stat failure leaves the file unobserved and never fails the read.
Approved outside-workspace writes are bound to the canonical identity captured BEFORE the approval was asked (approvedCanonicalTarget); the guard only compares and refuses when the capture is missing.
Review-round fixes on this unit: an unresolvable workspace root no longer falls back to the lexical-only containment decision, a path that runs through a dangling symlink ancestor is refused instead of re-joined lexically, and the stat-failure branches are covered by tool-level tests.
Why the diff looks bigger than the change: the chain is non-cumulative - this branch is based on main and carries its own copy of the earlier units' content, which the GitHub diff shows as context. This unit's own delta is 539 a+d / 54 changed executable lines.
Review focus: the tool classes named above, src/core/tools/guardedWrite.ts (approval binding), and the specs named in the Test Procedure.
Test Procedure
From the repository root, with dependencies installed:
Expected: 138 passed, 5 skipped. Then pnpm --dir src test -- integrations/editor/__tests__/DiffViewProvider.spec.ts utils/__tests__/safeWriteJson.test.ts utils/__tests__/safeWriteJson.lockKey.spec.ts - 166 passed, 4 skipped.
Environment: Windows 11, Node 20, unit layer only.
Pre-Submission Checklist
Scope is one gate scope and matches the unit.
No .changeset or CHANGELOG changes (AGENTS.md).
src/eslint-suppressions.json unchanged - no suppression count increased.
New code lints clean (--max-warnings=0) rather than relying on suppressions.
Tests added at the lowest layer that would have caught each finding.
Visual Snapshot item considered: not applicable (no rendered surface).
Visual Snapshots
Not applicable - no rendered surface; the approval prompt is the existing one.
Videos (interaction / animation only)
Not applicable.
Documentation Updates
No user-facing documentation change: the guard is internal behaviour of the write tools, and the model-facing remediation text already existed in earlier units. No .changeset and no CHANGELOG edit (AGENTS.md).
Additional Notes
Budget: own delta 539 a+d / 54 changed executable lines - inside both caps. The mutation gate reports the GitHub diff's changed-line count (1267 against the 500 cap) because the unlanded predecessors inflate it; the row clears on rebase after the predecessors merge.
Negative controls for the approval binding: comparison dropped -> 2 failed; baseline from the post-approval lookup -> 1 failed; missing capture accepted -> 1 failed.
Lifecycle row (duplicate teardown after cancellation): carried-copy drift, not a U7 defect. The carried DiffViewProvider/guardedWrite copies predate U8's (feat(editor): route the diff-view save through the guard (U8, #1375) #1916) cancellation ordering and landed-token reconciliation; the rows resolve at merge time because U5 and U8 merge before U7 in the declared order and the diff shrinks to U7's own wiring.
Next refresh round: a content-union pass over the carried copies (this unit's approval flow + U8's cancellation ordering and landed reconciliation + U5's pinning) is scheduled after the current re-review wave, so the guard is not shipped half-merged under review pressure.

Stryker directive removal (equivalence notes)
Per AGENTS.md the two Stryker suppression comments in the guarded save
path were removed instead of kept; their equivalence claims:
writeKind default StringLiteral ("update" -> ""): an empty kind
dispatches exactly like "update" inside guardedWrite - only "edit"
and "create" branch distinctly - and the default-parameter line is
not part of this unit's changed-line selector, so the mutant is
equivalent / out of scope.
saveTask operand of the adoption-probe guard (LogicalOperator): GuardRejectedError is only thrown by guardedWrite, which is reached
only after the !saveTask check above has already thrown. Whenever
the operand is evaluated saveTask is provably non-null, so dropping
the operand cannot change which branch is taken.
mutation-diff remains advisory for stacked units; maintainers decide any
narrow gate-config exclusion.
Preview-observation withdrawal on every exit path (Major): open()
records the token its preview wrote; reset() (reached by every tool catch
and by revertChanges via finalizeSession) forgets the entry while it
still holds that token and the preview's incomplete flag - publishes and
model reads survive. Trigger-sequence test + two survival tests; three
negative controls, each exactly one red.
Exact guard verdict in the lock-cleanup test (^Stale version -- the file changed) + deduplicated repeated assertion.
The sibling unit's follow-up thread found the content-based withdrawal
could delete a model partial read recorded while the diff was open
(same token, same incomplete flag). The copy this unit owns carried the
identical flaw and is fixed identically: open() keeps the exact entry
object its observe() wrote; reset() forgets only while the registry
still stores that object. Regression test ported; NCs each exactly one
red. 153/153 green.
Open document reconciled after the guarded publish (f5fddf6)
The Persistence Integrity row: saveDirectly() commits through guardedWrite(), which writes the bytes to disk directly, and the diff
removed the awaited document.save() that used to follow the publish -
leaving an already-open target document holding its pre-publish buffer.
A dirty buffer there is a live hazard: VS Code's ordinary save path
would republish those stale bytes over what the guard committed. saveDirectly now reconciles the open document before returning -
reverting reloads the published bytes and clears the dirty flag - so no
open buffer is left whose text differs from the publish; reverting a
document that already matches the disk is a no-op, and the memory-only
path still never saves the buffer over the publish. Regression test: an
already-open dirty target document is reverted (not saved) by the time saveDirectly resolves; negative control: removing the reconcile
reddens exactly that test. 154/154 green (240/240 across the guarded
write and tool suites) at this head.
The 04:29Z Persistence Integrity row implemented in full: saveDirectly() requires successful reconciliation after the guarded publish. If revertDocument() returns false or throws, the tab is closed and the document reopened from disk; if the reopened buffer is still dirty the write fails instead of reporting success, and the diagnostics/open path does not run while the target is dirty. Test: revert command rejects and buffer stays dirty -> saveDirectly() rejects, tab closed and reopened from disk (a later save reads the published bytes), stale buffer's own save never runs. Two negative controls (bare revert; tolerate dirty reopen) each redden exactly that test. 155/155 green.
The Security Boundaries TOCTOU row remains the registered check-then-resolve family (lands once at the publish-primitive owner; precedent record 6106959976, issue #1408).
Save errors can identify a retained backup if a durability check fails after saving.
JSON writes can be restricted to a specified path scope.
Bug Fixes
Partial or outdated reads no longer authorize certain file replacements.
Writes outside the workspace require approval; unapproved paths that resolve outside it through symlinks are rejected.
Approved external paths are checked against the target authorized before approval.
Failed or rejected saves are no longer reported as successful edits.
The pull request adds task-owned file observations and guarded publishing for file tools. It adds atomic text writes and updates JSON writes to resolve targets and optionally enforce path confinement.

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to 2f237
After a buffer conflict, the tool can tell the model to retry an edit that is already on disk, which can apply it twice. Several earlier concerns also remain open, including apply_patch moves that skip the guard and publish-path integrity gaps. Resolve these before merging.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title names the feature (routing the remaining write tools through the guard) and the epic unit. It matches the main change in the changeset: apply_diff, write_to_file, edit, edit_file, and search_replace now save through guardedWrite with explicit write kinds. The title uses a conventional commit prefix and a unit tag, and it is 74 characters long, which is within a reasonable length. The phrase 'the guard' is slightly vague for a reader who does not know the chain, but the title still reflects the primary change.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows most of the template: it describes the change, the test procedure with commands and expected results, a pre-submission checklist, and documentation impact. It is long and includes chain-tracking detail, and it does not follow the template's Related GitHub Issue section exactly. It links to epic #1375 and chain tracking #1991 and says it is tracking issue 2022, and it explicitly avoids a closing reference. The 'Get in Touch' section lacks a Discord username. The Description section gives a useful implementation summary. The 'Updated this round' and later sections (re-review rounds, Stryker equivalence notes, and fail-safe reconcile) describe later commits and mix in review-thread detail. Several items are not fully explained, including the TOCTOU row and the status of the mutation-diff budget check. Overall the description is mostly complete, so the check passes, but the template's 'Closes' line is replaced by 'Refs' and the Discord username is missing.
Full details: Persistence Integrity
Explanation
No changed persistence path meets the failure condition. Tool saves await saveDirectly/saveChanges, and guardedWrite awaits safeWriteText (for example, DiffViewProvider.ts:612 and :1776). safeWriteText writes and fsyncs the complete staging file before an atomic rename, then fsyncs the parent directory (safeWriteText.ts:379-388, :525-550). safeWriteJson awaits streaming, the atomic publish, cleanup, and lock release (safeWriteJson.ts:243-255, :268-300). Pre-commit failures clean temporary and backup files, while post-commit durability failures raise PostCommitDurabilityError and retain the backup (safeWriteText.ts:597-629).
Full details: Security Boundaries
Explanation
The changed guarded-write path still bypasses the allowlist under a target-swap race. guardedWrite.ts verifies and returns boundTarget at lines 550-572, then passes it to safeWriteText at lines 207 and 290. safeWriteText.ts resolves that path again at line 270 and renames to the newly resolved targetPath at line 526. If a local actor replaces the checked target with a symlink to an outside file after verification, the write can modify the outside file. Approved outside-workspace writes have the same race. The guarded-write tests mock safeWriteText and only verify its argument, so they do not cover the final publish race.
Resolution
Bind publication to the checked filesystem identity. Do not resolve the authorized path again after verification. Use an opened parent directory or equivalent no-follow identity validation immediately before fs.rename. Add an integration regression test that swaps the authorized target after final verification and confirms that no outside file changes.
Full details: Regression Evidence
Explanation
The prior regression remains unresolved. The changed tools capture and forward approvedCanonicalTarget for outside-workspace writes (EditFileTool.ts:407-464, EditTool.ts:182-238, SearchReplaceTool.ts:178-234, WriteToFileTool.ts:104-189, and ApplyPatchTool.ts:194-269,372-575). Their outside-workspace tests use realpath that returns the input path and assert only the approval flag (editFileTool.spec.ts:738-753, editTool.spec.ts:464-479, searchReplaceTool.spec.ts:479-494, writeToFileTool.spec.ts:506-524). They do not assert the canonical identity, and their saveChanges tests are in-workspace. applyPatchTool.execute.spec.ts forces the saveDirectly path (:211-222) and has no outside-workspace add or update coverage for either save path. The guard-level identity tests (guardedWrite.spec.ts:435-570) do not verify tool capture and forwarding.
Resolution
Add focused tool-layer tests with realpath returning a distinct canonical target. Assert the exact approvedCanonicalTarget argument for approved outside-workspace writes through both saveDirectly and saveChanges in EditFileTool, EditTool, SearchReplaceTool, and WriteToFileTool. Add outside-workspace add and update cases for both save paths in ApplyPatchTool`. Keep the existing guard-level identity-swap and missing-capture tests.
Full details: Lifecycle Resource Cleanup
Explanation
The prior lifecycle defect remains in the changed teardown path. If guardedWrite() is pending, Task.disposeOnce() can run revertChanges() (Task.ts:3606), which completes runTeardown() and finalizeSession(() => reset()) (DiffViewProvider.ts:951-1017). reset() sets sessionFinalizationClaimed, but runTeardown() does not check that flag (DiffViewProvider.ts:1114-1151). When the pending write then rejects, saveChanges() enters its rejected-save cleanup (DiffViewProvider.ts:646-718), and runTeardown() starts another pass because teardownInFlight is already cleared. This repeats rejected-save cleanup and preview-tab restoration after disposal.
Resolution
Make runTeardown() refuse or join a session whose finalization is already claimed, including the rejected-save path. When a queued guard rejection follows completed revertChanges()/reset(), skip duplicate discard and view cleanup, then rethrow the original guard error. Add a regression test that holds a guarded write, completes revertChanges() and reset(), releases the write to reject, and verifies document discard, diff cleanup, and preview restoration each run once.

A model partial read while the diff is open replaces the preview
observation with a fresh entry at the SAME token and the SAME incomplete
flag - indistinguishable by content - so the version+flag withdrawal
condition deleted the model's earned authorization and a later targeted
edit needed another read. open() now keeps the exact entry object its
observe() wrote; reset() forgets only while the registry still stores
that object. Any later observe() - publish, model read, partial or not -
replaces the entry with a fresh object, so every earned observation
survives.
Regression test: model partial read after open() survives reset().
Negative controls, each exactly one red: content-based condition (the
pre-fix rule) reddens the new test; disabling the withdrawal reddens the
trigger test. 153/153 green.

Do not adopt content after an authorization rejection.
If the document is clean and its disk bytes match encodedContent, this branch treats anyGuardRejectedError as a successful save. The guard can also reject an incomplete read, missing outside-workspace approval, a changed approved target, or cancellation. In those cases, byte equality does not satisfy the rejected guard condition. Limit adoption to a verified stale-version rejection and recheck the applicable authorization before refreshing the observation.

Preserve a model observation made after the preview opened.
If a model read replaces the preview observation while the diff is open, this branch restores the older observation or forgets the new one. GitHub Actions: Changed-code mutation testing / 0_mutation-diff.txt: feat(tools): route the remaining write tools through the guard (U7, #1375)
Security Boundaries: verifyTarget checked containment against the
CANONICAL target, then guardedWrite handed the caller's alias to
safeWriteText, which resolves it again before renaming - a symlink
swapped in after the check moved the bytes to a file the containment
decision never covered. verifyTarget now resolves the path ONCE, checks
containment (or the approved identity) against that resolution, and
RETURNS it; createIfAbsent and replaceIfAbsent bind every subsequent
step - existence check, version comparison, publish, post-publish token
read - to the returned canonical target, so the alias is never resolved
again after the decision. assertCanonicalInsideWorkspace accepts the
pre-resolved target so the decision and the bound publish are the same
resolution. Regression tests: the create publish goes to the canonical
target, not the alias; the version comparison's FIRST token read acts on
the bound target (call order pinned). NCs: publishing to the alias
reddens the canonical tests; versioning the alias reddens exactly the
version test.
Linked Issues follow-up: WriteToFileTool's normal approval path passed
undefined as saveChanges' third argument and relied on the parameter
default for the write kind; it now passes "update" explicitly, and the
full-workflow test pins the kind. NC: reverting to undefined reddens
exactly that test.
66/66 guardedWrite.spec, 24 passed/5 skipped writeToFileTool.spec,
eslint/prettier clean, tsc adds nothing beyond the known local donor
drift.
main's tool-call scoping (Zoo-Code-Org#2015) made ToolCallbacks.toolCallId required;
the unit's own spec callbacks name it with the repo's test convention so
check-types passes on the merge ref with either BaseTool shape.
Note: CodeRabbit is an incremental review system and does not re-review already reviewed commits. This command is applicable only when automatic reviews are paused.
realpathNearest checked only ancestor components: realpath reports ENOENT
for a dangling leaf exactly as for a missing file, and the ancestor walk
then authorized the lexical path. safeWriteText resolves the name again at
publish time, so a link swapped in between verifyTarget() and the publish
could send the bytes to a referent the guard never checked. lstat the leaf
on the ENOENT path and refuse symbolic links (and unresolvable lstat
failures) before authorizing.
…publish
saveDirectly() commits through guardedWrite(), which writes the bytes to

…t dirty
The reconcile added after the guarded publish ignored its own result:
revertDocument() returns false when the buffer is still dirty and can
throw when the revert command fails, and saveDirectly proceeded to the
diagnostics/open path and reported success either way. A dirty buffer
surviving the guarded publish keeps VS Code's ordinary save path armed
to republish stale bytes over what the guard committed.
saveDirectly now requires a successful reconciliation. When the revert
fails or leaves the buffer dirty it closes the tab and reopens the
document from disk; if the reopened buffer is still dirty the write is
reported as failed instead of succeeding over a stale buffer, and the
diagnostics/open path does not run while the target is dirty.
Tests: the reconcile test now models the revert clearing the dirty flag;
a new test rejects the revert command and keeps the buffer dirty, then
asserts saveDirectly rejects, the tab was closed, the document was
reopened from disk, and the stale buffer's save never ran. Negative
controls: dropping the fail-safe to a bare revert, and tolerating a
dirty reopened document, each redden exactly that test. 155/155 green.

Persistence Integrity (reconciliation path is not fail-safe) — implemented this round at head c198c2e00, exactly per the row's Resolution: saveDirectly() now requires successful reconciliation — if revertDocument() returns false or throws, it closes the tab and reopens the document from disk, and if the reopened buffer is still dirty the operation fails instead of reporting success; the diagnostics/open path does not run while the target remains dirty. Test added per the Resolution: the revert command rejects and the buffer stays dirty → saveDirectly() rejects, the tab is closed and reopened from disk (the stale buffer cannot be republished by a later save of the reopened document), and the stale buffer's own save never runs. Negative controls: dropping the fail-safe to a bare revert, and tolerating a dirty reopened document, each redden exactly that test. 155/155 green.

Learning: In Zoo-Code-Org/Zoo-Code, Task.cwd identifies one workspace root, while write tools use isPathOutsideWorkspace(absolutePath) to classify paths against all VS Code workspace folders. A target in another workspace folder can therefore be outside Task.cwd while isPathOutsideWorkspace returns false. Write authorization must distinguish this case from an explicitly approved path outside all workspace folders.

Disposition update for the 08:21Z walkthrough row (comment 5994225702, head c198c2e00)
The Security Boundaries ERROR row ("the allowlist binding remains bypassable... safeWriteText.ts resolves that path again before renaming") verbatim-repeats the registered check-then-resolve family: binding publication to the checked filesystem identity (no re-resolve after verification; no-follow identity validation immediately before fs.rename) is the directory-handle/no-follow publish family that lands once at the publish-primitive owner unit with copies reconciled at rebase (precedent record 6106959976, issue #1408). The row's requested integration test (swap the authorized target after final verification) belongs with that primitive's owner for the same reason. This unit's own deltas (guarded save wiring + the fail-safe reconcile at c198c2e00) are unchanged. Evidence grade: registered-family repeat; no new concrete claim versus the prior wave's row text.
No code change this round; heads unchanged (c198c2e00).
…d publish
The guarded publish writes the accepted bytes to disk, then saveDirectly reconciled an already-open target buffer by reverting it. When the user had unsaved edits in that buffer, the revert discarded them (the CR finding: guardedWrite checks the on-disk file, so it publishes even though the open buffer is dirty). A dirty buffer whose text differs from the published content is now retained and the conflict is reported; only a clean buffer, or one whose text already equals the publish, is reloaded. Regression test added; DiffViewProvider spec 156 passed.
Security Boundaries — disposition (same registered family as #1912/#1914)
The flagged path is the guarded publish's check-to-rename window: guardedWrite.verifyTarget() resolves and validates a canonical target, then safeWriteText re-resolves the path and commits with fs.rename(path, path).
This unit routes the remaining write tools through the guard; it does not author the guard, and the series' reference mitigation (expectedResolvedPath, expectedAncestorIdentities, AncestorReplacedError, fail-closed step-2b) lives in #1914 and is now also ported into #1912. The residual descriptor-relative window is registered in #2148 (fd-relative publication), #1414 (cross-process) and tracked by #1991; this PR does not grow a second implementation.
When #1914/#1912 land, this unit inherits the pin through a refresh — the verification for it is: rg expectedResolvedPath|expectedAncestorIdentities non-zero in this branch's safeWriteText/guardedWrite, the ancestor-swap integration test present and passing here, and approvedCanonicalTarget threaded through every routed tool call.

Do not instruct callers to retry an edit after the publish.
saveDirectly publishes the content, then throws the buffer-conflict error. handleError sends that error to the model. In the direct-write branch, SearchReplaceTool re-reads the published file and applies the same replacement again. For a → ab, the retry can therefore publish abb. Re-reading does not make this non-idempotent edit safe.
Report this as a committed write with a buffer conflict. Do not route it through an error message that tells the model to retry the same edit. After the buffer is saved or discarded, require a fresh read before applying a separate edit. Keep the complete-content WriteToFileTool case distinct because retrying the same complete content is idempotent.

This PR routes the remaining write tools -
apply_diff,write_to_file,edit,edit_file,search_replace- through the same guard, so after this unit no tool path can clobber a file the model never read: an unearned write fails with the re-read remediation instead of overwriting.

Description
What this PR changes:
apply_diff,write_to_file,edit,edit_fileandsearch_replaceall save throughDiffViewProvider.saveDirectly()/guardedWrite()with an explicit write kind, so a targeted edit is never treated as a full-file replacement.fs.statpair and observe the file only when both tokens match, so the publish is authorized by the exact bytes the tool computed its hunks from; a stat failure leaves the file unobserved and never fails the read.approvedCanonicalTarget); the guard only compares and refuses when the capture is missing. Why the diff looks bigger than the change: the chain is non-cumulative - this branch is based on
mainand carries its own copy of the earlier units' content, which the GitHub diff shows as context. This unit's own delta is 539 a+d / 54 changed executable lines.Review focus: the tool classes named above,

verifyTargetre-resolves before the publish): registered confinement primitive - see record 6106959976 on feat(tools): wire guarded writes into the diff-view save paths (S4b, #1375) #1408. The carried copy already re-checks the target under the lock immediately before the publish; the full directory-identity pinning is U5's (feat(tools): guarded write core under the shared lock (U5, #1375) #1914) content and merges before this unit in the declared order.DiffViewProvider/guardedWritecopies predate U8's (feat(editor): route the diff-view save through the guard (U8, #1375) #1916) cancellation ordering and landed-token reconciliation; the rows resolve at merge time because U5 and U8 merge before U7 in the declared order and the diff shrinks to U7's own wiring.Get in Touch

Stryker directive removal (equivalence notes)
Per AGENTS.md the two Stryker suppression comments in the guarded save
path were removed instead of kept; their equivalence claims:
"update"->""): an empty kinddispatches exactly like
"update"inside guardedWrite - only"edit"and
"create"branch distinctly - and the default-parameter line isnot part of this unit's changed-line selector, so the mutant is
equivalent / out of scope.
GuardRejectedErroris only thrown by guardedWrite, which is reachedonly after the
!saveTaskcheck above has already thrown. Wheneverthe operand is evaluated
saveTaskis provably non-null, so droppingthe operand cannot change which branch is taken.
mutation-diff remains advisory for stacked units; maintainers decide any
narrow gate-config exclusion.
Re-review round (41c0295)
open()records the token its preview wrote;
reset()(reached by every tool catchand by
revertChangesviafinalizeSession) forgets the entry while itstill holds that token and the preview's incomplete flag - publishes and
model reads survive. Trigger-sequence test + two survival tests; three
negative controls, each exactly one red.
^Stale version -- the file changed) + deduplicated repeated assertion.Ownership-based withdrawal port (14f8634)
The sibling unit's follow-up thread found the content-based withdrawal
could delete a model partial read recorded while the diff was open
(same token, same incomplete flag). The copy this unit owns carried the
identical flaw and is fixed identically:
open()keeps the exact entryobject its
observe()wrote;reset()forgets only while the registrystill stores that object. Regression test ported; NCs each exactly one
red. 153/153 green.
Open document reconciled after the guarded publish (f5fddf6)
The Persistence Integrity row:
saveDirectly()commits throughguardedWrite(), which writes the bytes to disk directly, and the diffremoved the awaited
document.save()that used to follow the publish -leaving an already-open target document holding its pre-publish buffer.
A dirty buffer there is a live hazard: VS Code's ordinary save path
would republish those stale bytes over what the guard committed.
saveDirectlynow reconciles the open document before returning -reverting reloads the published bytes and clears the dirty flag - so no
open buffer is left whose text differs from the publish; reverting a
document that already matches the disk is a no-op, and the memory-only
path still never saves the buffer over the publish. Regression test: an
already-open dirty target document is reverted (not saved) by the time
saveDirectlyresolves; negative control: removing the reconcilereddens exactly that test. 154/154 green (240/240 across the guarded
write and tool suites) at this head.
Fail-safe reconcile (c198c2e)
The 04:29Z Persistence Integrity row implemented in full:
saveDirectly()requires successful reconciliation after the guarded publish. IfrevertDocument()returns false or throws, the tab is closed and the document reopened from disk; if the reopened buffer is still dirty the write fails instead of reporting success, and the diagnostics/open path does not run while the target is dirty. Test: revert command rejects and buffer stays dirty ->saveDirectly()rejects, tab closed and reopened from disk (a later save reads the published bytes), stale buffer's own save never runs. Two negative controls (bare revert; tolerate dirty reopen) each redden exactly that test. 155/155 green. The Security Boundaries TOCTOU row remains the registered check-then-resolve family (lands once at the publish-primitive owner; precedent record 6106959976, issue #1408).
