#1203 introduced checkstyle. It currently reports issues in the code rather than fail if issues exist.

We should flick the failOnViolation config value from false to true and fix any code issues.

We might also want to add more rules.

    Hi, I'd like to work on this. I would enable failure on violations for the existing Checkstyle rules, fix the remaining violations, and verify that the checks fail when violations are introduced.

    Could you assign this to me if it is available?
