bug(ClickEventManager): Clicks on iOS 18.2 and before do not have pointer type #33999

Description

I found this problem using the listbox component, but I am pretty sure all components that use the ClickEventManager have this problem. iOS versions older than 18.2 do not have a pointer type, the ClickEventManager sees these as fake clicks (see isFakeClick function) and ignores them, so clicks do not work.

See release notes about the pointer type.

Reproduction

Can be reproduced on https://angular.dev with a iOS version older than 18.2, with multiple components for example on https://angular.dev/guide/aria/select.

Expected Behavior

Clicks in components handeld via ClickEventManager on iOS version older than 18.2 should work.

Actual Behavior

Clicks in components handled via ClickEventManager on iOS version older than 18.2 do not work.

Environment

  • Angular: 22.2.3
  • CDK/Material: 22.2.3
  • Operating System (e.g. Windows, macOS, Ubuntu): iOS version older than 18.2
