Added a "How the MCP server works" section to the MCP server page, between the intro and "Connect to your MCP server". It names the single tool the server exposes (
searchDocs, verified against the live server at buildwithfern.com/learn/_mcp/server), explains that it returns passages with source URLs rather than whole pages and points readers to Markdown over HTTP for full pages, describes retrieval as semantic over the same Ask Fern index (including additional content sources, and scoped byFERN_TOKENon authenticated sites), and states that each call counts as an Ask Fern message against the plan's monthly AI credit allowance, with one reader question often producing several calls.
