Deleting a message or leaving a reaction leaves the open channel stale #619

Open

Description

@iamnbutler

Deleting a message or leaving a reaction leaves the open channel stale until you switch away or reload.

What was seen

  • Delete: after "Delete message?" → Delete message, "Test message two" stayed on screen with no toast, "including when I checked again a few seconds later". It changed to "Message deleted" only after switching to another channel and back. The delete had been saved (^559).
  • Leave a reaction: clicking your own 👍 pill removed it, but then the hover toolbar stopped appearing on every message, yours and the agent's. Moving the pointer away and back didn't help; only a real reload brought it back (^562).
  • Reaction pills show no count, and who reacted shows only on hover. The emoji picker's search bar is black and the typed text can't be seen (^561).

Steps

  1. Post two Chat-mode messages, delete the second from its More menu.
  2. React 👍 to a message, click the pill to remove it, then hover any message.

Expected: the deletion shows at once, and the toolbar keeps working after a reaction is removed.

Rig: web (loopback source host from origin/main, 0.0.53 code).

Map: ^559, ^562, ^561.

    Two-Mac re-check on Canary 0.0.54.93 (includes #648): ^559 and ^562 are fixed. Nate deleted a message in b-chan and it read Message deleted at once on his own screen (no channel switch or resize) and live on Sam's open b-chan. Sam joined Nate's 👀 (👀 2, tooltip You and iamnbutler) and took it back; Nate's open pill and tooltip followed live, and after Nate removed his own reaction the hover toolbar still appeared on every message. Left open only because #670 (^561 pill counts and picker search) isn't in this Canary: a single reaction still showed no count and the search field was a black bar. It can close once a Canary with #670 shows 👀 1.
