Summary

Fix 4 issues in mermaid flow graph:

1. Loop condition inheritance (common.rs:696)

3. Label length (mermaid.rs:704)

sanitize() tăng từ 80 -> 100 ký tự. Nhãn IF_TRUE dài (83 ký tự) không bị cắt giữa chừng.

4. Try/except labels (common.rs:813)

Thêm except_label() extract nhãn handler từ except_clause. Nhãn except ValueError: thay vì IF_TRUE rỗng.

Kết quả trên Applio:

Hàm Trước Sau
get_gpu_info 5 calls mang if ... 1 call/nhánh
train.py::run 12 mentions if torch.cuda.is_available() 4 calls
try/except IF_TRUE rỗng IF_TRUE: except Exception as e

Test:

  • 15/15 mermaid tests pass
  • 44/44 chains tests pass
  • 130+ graph tests pass
  • 8/8 mcp tests pass

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Call graph conditions now reflect the relevant branch or loop, avoiding inherited if conditions on loops without their own condition.
    • Exception-handler branches display an except label when a handler name is available.
  • Improvements
    • Mermaid call labels can now display up to 100 characters, up from 80.
    • Call conditions are shown more selectively based on their position in the call chain.

1. common.rs:696 - Loop không thừa hưởng condition của if bao ngoài
   `for i in range(n)` lồng trong `if c:` sẽ không còn gán nhãn điều kiện của IF
   cho mọi call trong loop. Loop không có condition riêng thì body calls mang
   condition = None.

2. mermaid.rs:249 - Chỉ hiện condition trên node DAU TIEN của nhánh
   - Neu co branch marker truoc thi chi node ngay sau marker moi hien condition
   - Neu KHONG co marker nhanh nao (test case) thi moi call co condition deu hien
   Fix: "loat torch.cuda.is_available()" tren 15+ calls -> chi 1 call/nhanh

3. mermaid.rs:704 - sanitize() tang tu 80 -> 100 ky tu
   Nhan IF_TRUE dai (83 ky tu) khong bi cat giua chung

4. common.rs:813 - Try/except nhan `except ValueError:` thay vi IF_TRUE rong
   Them helper `except_label()` extract nhan handler tu except_clause

Ket qua tren Applio:
- get_gpu_info: `torch.cuda.is_available` 5 calls -> chi 1 call/nhanh co suffix
- train.py::run: 12 mentions `torch.cuda.is_available()` -> chi 4 co suffix `if`
- try/except: nhan `except Exception as e` thay vi IF_TRUE rong

Test: 15/15 mermaid pass, 44/44 chains pass, 130+ graph pass

Walkthrough

The changes update loop condition metadata and exception-handler branch labels during extraction. Mermaid output now applies updated rules for displaying call conditions and truncates sanitized labels at 100 characters.

Changes

Call and branch labels

Layer / File(s) Summary
Extract loop conditions and exception labels
crates/codegraph-extract/src/languages/common.rs
Loop calls use only the loop’s own non-empty condition. Exception-handler branches receive an except <label> label when a non-empty label can be extracted.
Render call conditions and sanitize labels
crates/codegraph-api/src/mermaid.rs
Call conditions appear when the call immediately follows an IF_TRUE, IF_FALSE, LOOP, or SWITCH_CASE marker, or when none of those markers appears earlier in the chain. Sanitized labels are truncated at 100 characters.

Change: Bug fix

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to d12ac

Mermaid labels for aliased Python exception handlers omit the bound name. This is a limited output issue; the loop-condition behavior is supported by source inspection, though a focused regression test would improve coverage.

696-699: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Add a regression test for a conditionless loop nested in an if.

The current tests cover separate if and conditional while statements. They do not assert that a body call in if x: for item in items: has no condition. A regression that restores outer-condition inheritance would therefore pass these tests and reintroduce condition flooding.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Include the exception alias in the handler label.

For except Exception as e:, except_label selects the first named child and returns Exception. It drops the separate alias child, so the branch displays except Exception instead of except Exception as e. Read the handler’s value and optional alias fields when constructing the label.
