## Unreleased

- The skills no longer download and run an installer. If `jam` is missing, they ask you to install it from jam.dev/cli. Addresses the remote-code-execution audit finding on `jam-proof` and `jam-annotate`.
- `jam-annotate` and the `jam-fix` proof step write the Jam payload to a file and run `jam create jam @payload.json`, so user and page text never reaches a shell argument.
- `jam-fix` and `jam-to-e2e` treat Jam content (transcript, logs, network bodies, page text, comments) as evidence, not instructions.
- `server.json` follows Jam MCP 1.27.1, the version production serves.

### ChatGPT directory package

The ChatGPT directory takes the skills that read a Jam over MCP alone: `jam-fix` and `jam-to-e2e`, without their `references/`. The CLI install steps (in `jam-proof`, `jam-annotate` and the `references/cli.md` files) download and run code, which fails ChatGPT's external-code review, so a skill meant for ChatGPT keeps its install steps in `references/` and is added to `SKILLS` in `scripts/package-chatgpt.mjs`. Build the package from `master` after the merge: the packaged skills link to `references/` on GitHub.

## Requirements

Every skill needs a free [Jam](https://jam.dev?utm_source=github&utm_medium=readme&utm_campaign=skills) account. `jam-fix` and `jam-to-e2e` read a Jam through the Jam MCP server or the [Jam CLI](https://jam.dev/cli); `jam-proof` and `jam-annotate` create Jams, which needs the CLI. A skill installs the CLI and signs in when it needs it. In CI or a cloud agent, set `JAM_TOKEN` to a [personal access token](https://jam.dev/docs/personal-access-tokens). Window and display capture in `jam-proof` need macOS or Linux (X11); its default, recording a headless browser, needs only Chrome.

🟨 Private Jam links persist in payload files

For a proof upload, payload.json contains the source Jam URL and remains on disk. A later project commit can expose that link.

🟡 Installed Jam CLI reported missing

When jam lives in ~/.local/bin outside the initial PATH, command -v jam reports it missing. export PATH then makes it available, but the stop instruction can halt all four skills before authentication.

Learn more

The setup block is shared by jam-proof, jam-annotate, and both CLI references. It checks for jam before adding $HOME/.local/bin, although that directory is explicitly added for CLI discovery. The new stop instruction can therefore act on a false missing-CLI message. When the CLI is truly absent, the block also reaches jam auth status and jam auth login instead of stopping.

Example: A user has ~/.local/bin/jam, but their agent's PATH lacks ~/.local/bin. The setup prints “jam is not installed,” then adds that directory and successfully finds Jam; the agent can still stop based on the warning rather than use the installed CLI.

Recommended fix: In each of the four matching setup blocks, add $HOME/.local/bin to PATH before checking command -v jam. Make an unsuccessful check stop the setup before any jam auth command runs.
