Full Changelog

Backwards-incompatible Changes

  • Field aliases are now resolved before calling field_transformer, so transformers receive fully populated Attribute objects with usable alias values instead of None. The new Attribute.alias_is_default flag indicates whether the alias was auto-generated (True) or explicitly set by the user (False). #1509

Changes

  • Fix type annotations for attrs.validators.optional(), so it no longer rejects tuples with more than one validator. #1496
  • The attrs.validators.disabled() contextmanager can now be nested. #1513
  • Frozen classes can set on_setattr=attrs.setters.NO_OP in addition to None. #1515
  • It's now possible to pass attrs instances in addition to attrs classes to attrs.fields(). #1529

This release contains contributions from @bysiber, @DavidCEllis, @finite-state-machine, @hynek, @veeceey, and @vstinner.

26.1.0 - 2026-03-19

25.4.0 - 2025-10-06

Backwards-incompatible Changes

  • Class-level kw_only=True behavior is now consistent with dataclasses.

    Previously, a class that sets kw_only=True makes all attributes keyword-only, including those from base classes. If an attribute sets kw_only=False, that setting is ignored, and it is still made keyword-only.

    Now, only the attributes defined in that class that doesn't explicitly set kw_only=False are made keyword-only.

    This shouldn't be a problem for most users, unless you have a pattern like this:

    @attrs.define(kw_only=True)
    class Base:
        a: int
        b: int = attrs.field(default=1, kw_only=False)
    @attrs.define
    class Subclass(Base):
    c: int

    Here, we have a kw_only=True attrs class (Base) with an attribute that sets kw_only=False and has a default (Base.b), and then create a subclass (Subclass) with required arguments (Subclass.c). Previously this would work, since it would make Base.b keyword-only, but now this fails since Base.b is positional, and we have a required positional argument (Subclass.c) following another argument with defaults. #1457

Updates dnspython from 2.7.0 to 2.8.0

Release notes

Sourced from dnspython's releases.

dnspython 2.8.0

See What's New for details.

The minimum supported version of Python is 3.10.

My thanks to the many people who have contributed to this release. Also thanks to my co-maintainers: Tomáš Křížek, Petr Špaček, and Brian Wellington.

This release was published to PyPI using Trusted Publishing.

Changelog

Sourced from dnspython's changelog.

2.8.0

  • dns/btreezone.py provides another zone versioned implementation built on top of a B-tree. It maintains DNSSEC sort order, labels nodes as delegation points or glue, and can find the "bounds" of a name (useful for DNSSEC responses).

  • dns/query.py now provides make_socket(), make_ssl_socket(), and make_ssl_context() to make using persistent connections with the query code easier.

  • dns/win32util.py now supports explicitly setting the configuration method used to get system dns info, using the set_config_method() function. There is a new configuration method that uses the Win32 API, which can be set using set_config_method(ConfigMethod.Win32). We are considering making the Win32 API the default in the future as we believe it to be the most accurate. Any feedback on it compared to the other methods is welcome.

  • The DSYNC record is now supported. This type is still in draft stage at the IETF and is subject to change.

  • The minimum supported Python version is now 3.10.

Updates hypothesis from 6.141.1 to 6.155.7

Release notes

Sourced from hypothesis's releases.

Hypothesis for Python - version 6.152.9

This release substantially improves our internal distribution for generating integers. This release has the most visible effect on "integers()", but may incidentally improve other strategies which draw integers internally.

Our integers distribution had two problems. First, it had jagged discontinuities at certain values where we switched sampling approaches. Second, it used a different distribution for bounded and unbounded ranges, which resulted in "st.integers()" and "st.integers(-264, 264)" producing very different distributions despite being semantically similar.

We now use a smooth distribution for both "st.integers()" and "st.integers(a, b)", which fixes both of these issues. This should substantially improve our testing power in certain cases.

The only way this release should be user-visible is that it finds more bugs! If this release is user-visible in other ways - for example, because it is slower, or produces a worse distribution in some cases - please open an issue.

Hypothesis for Python - version 6.152.8

This release drops support for end-of-life Django 4.2.

The canonical version of these notes (with links) is on readthedocs.

Hypothesis for Python - version 6.152.7

This patch improves our type hints for ".filter()" to work with "typing.TypeGuard". For example:

from typing import TypeGuard

from hypothesis import strategies as st

def is_str(x: object) -> TypeGuard[str]: return isinstance(x, str)

s = st.from_type(object).filter(is_str)

previously: SearchStrategy[object]

now: SearchStrategy[str]

reveal_type(s)

Hypothesis for Python - version 6.152.6

This patch adds a shrinking pass that tries natural text

Updates black from 25.11.0 to 26.5.1

Release notes

Sourced from black's releases.

26.5.1

Stable style

  • Fix unstable formatting of annotated assignments whose subscript annotation contains an inline comment (e.g. x: list[ # pyright: ignore[...]) (#5130)
  • Preserve inline comments (including # type: ignore) immediately before a # fmt: skip line, avoiding AST equivalence failures (#5139)

Packaging

  • Correct the version in the published executables (#5137)

Documentation

  • Add Neovim integration guide covering conform.nvim, ALE, and simple command approaches (#5124)

26.5.0

Highlights

  • Add support for unpacking in comprehensions (PEP 798) and for lazy imports (PEP 810), both new syntactic features in Python 3.15 (#5048)
  • Python 3.15 is now supported. Compiled wheels are not yet provided for Python 3.15, so performance may be slower than on existing Python versions. Wheels will be provided once Python 3.15 is later in its release cycle. (#5127)

Stable style

  • Fix # fmt: skip being ignored in nested if expressions with parenthesized in clauses (#4903)
  • Add syntactic support for Python 3.15 (#5048)
  • Fix crash when an f-string follows a # fmt: off comment inside brackets (#5097)
  • Preserve multiline compound statement headers when # fmt: skip is placed on the colon line (#5117)

Preview style

  • Improve heuristics around whether blank lines should appear before, within and after groups of same-name decorated functions (such as @overload groups) in .pyi stub files (#5021)
  • Fix blank lines being removed between a function and a decorated class in .pyi stub files (#5092)
  • Prevent string merger from creating unsplittable long lines when a pragma comment (e.g. # type: ignore) follows the closing bracket (#5096)
