fix: correctly handle distinct version requests in resolveDependencyTree - #3390
Dependency resolution now distinguishes requests for the same package with different version ranges, including aliased requests.
When requests with the same range are queued together, a required request is no longer treated as optional.
If multiple requests resolve to the same package version, the result reflects whether any request requires it.
The dependency resolver now distinguishes requests by package name and effective range. It tracks required and optional requests using that identity, while keeping resolved results deduplicated by package name and version.
Changes: Dependency resolution
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Request identity and traversal server/utils/dependency-resolver.ts, test/unit/server/utils/dependency-resolver.spec.ts
The traversal and dependency queues use package name and effective range as the request identity. Required requests upgrade matching queued optional requests. Tests cover aliases, distinct versions, and depth and path tracking.
Resolved results and paths server/utils/dependency-resolver.ts, test/unit/server/utils/dependency-resolver.spec.ts
A required occurrence changes an existing resolved result's optional flag to false. Tests cover distinct ranges resolving to one version and cycles between package versions.
Possibly related PRs
npmx-dev/npmx.dev#2192: Adds the parser contract used to extract alias names and ranges.
Distinct version requests are handled more completely, but optional dependencies can be reported as required in a newly worsened queue case. Correct that localized behavior and add the separate required-upgrade regression test; the remaining impact is bounded.

Explanation
The changes satisfy the coding requirements in [#3384]. DependencyRequest separates the fetched package name from the request range. requestKey identifies pending and visited requests by package name and effective range. Regular and optional dependencies use this identity. The resolved map still deduplicates by name@version and upgrades an existing result from optional to required when needed. Level-based processing preserves breadth-first depth and path tracking. The seen keys terminate cycles. The added tests cover aliases with distinct versions, revisiting a package with a new version, optional requests, same-version range resolution, and cycles.

Explanation
The pull request changes only the dependency resolver and its unit tests. The resolver changes directly implement [#3384], and the tests provide regression coverage for its acceptance criteria. No unrelated product behaviour or unrelated files are changed.

Upgrade optional entries when a required request is suppressed.

Upgrade optional entries when a required request is suppressed.
This defect predates the PR. When a package is first reached as optional and later required at a deeper level, the required request is skipped by the seen check at line 236. The resolved entry keeps optional: true, so calculateInstallSize reports the package as optional. Record the resolved key for each request, and upgrade that entry when a required request is suppressed.

Update the dependency-resolution flow around `resolved.get(key)` so each request
retains its resolved key, then promote the matching entry to required when a
required request is skipped by the `seen` check. Preserve optional status for
entries with no required request.

Keep a queued optional request optional when the parent is optional.
603-604: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Keep a queued optional request optional when the parent is optional.
The regular-dependency loop clears the optional flag on any queued request, including when the parent is optional. If two optional packages at the same level both depend on the same package and range, and the regular request is queued second, the package is reported as required. The earlier code kept it optional in this order. Guard the upgrade with the parent's optional value. A queued value that is already required stays required.
Suggested fix
if (queued) {
// A required request upgrades a queued optional request.
- queued.optional = false+ if (!optional) queued.optional = false
} else if (!seen.has(reqKey)) {

In the regular-dependency loop, only upgrade a queued request from optional to
required when the parent request is not optional. Preserve the queued request’s
existing required state; locate the update through the `queued.optional`
assignment.
Test the required-request upgrade in a separate test.
598-602: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Heavy lift
Test the required-request upgrade in a separate test.
The new test uses different ranges for opt, so it does not cover a required opt@^1.0.0 request for the same range as the optional one. Extending the existing test would also reverse its assertion. Its optional: true expectation for opt@1.0.0 would become false, which weakens the distinct-optional-version check. Add a separate test instead.
The new test fails at head. The resolver does not clear the optional flag, because the later required request is skipped when its key is already in seen. Add the test with the resolver change that clears that flag, or the suite will fail.

Add a separate test using mockAbbreviatedPackument to verify that when the same
opt version is requested as both optional and required, the result is not marked
optional; keep the existing distinct-version assertion unchanged. Update
resolveDependencyTree so a required request clears the optional flag even when
the dependency key is already in seen.
