Seems to match what I wrote a long time ago here https://dev.planetary.social/replication/ebt.html, I remember noticing the discrepancy as well. I think I didn't fix it because I wasn't sure where the problem is, the docs, implementations, my understanding of the mechanism...

I agree @boreq. I saw this also and think it's a typo. At least the examples in the table indicate that. I'll test the implementations and verify that if it's possible.

I sent claude to check it, it's unironically useful at stuff like this, it claims that we are right and a computer would never be wrong of course. So I think that's settled.

● Yes — the PR is correct. The lowest-order bit is the receive flag, not the replicate flag, confirmed by both the JS reference implementation (epidemic-broadcast-trees/v3.js) and the planetary.social docs.
