feat(xades): add XAdES B-B adapter crate - #245
Conversation
Add xml-sec-xades, a workspace crate that validates the XAdES B-B level
(ETSI EN 319 132-1 6.3) of a signature xml-sec has already verified,
through the shared structured-xades core. The adapter reads the verified
document generation, authenticated reference catalogue, scalar kernels,
hash-use and selected-key receipts; it builds no second XML
representation and verifies nothing again. Every limit comes from the
session's compiled policy, and xml-sec itself does not depend on
structured-xades.
- xml_sec_xades::Document implements the structured-xades XML, signature,
reference, binary, scalar, URI, date-time, certificate, hash and digest
provider traits; every query checks document identity and generation
and charges the caller's Work first. MD5 certificate digest methods are
classified as the format prohibition independently of the XMLDSig
digest policy.
- validate_basic refuses identities outside the verified request, then
runs prepare, check_fields, bind_counters, check_participants,
check_path and basic, handing the report to a scoped visitor. XML
queries spend the request's own execution; certificate processing runs
on a fresh account bounded by the operation's X.509 resource policy and
path bounds. Completed negative facts are Outcome variants; stage
failures keep their original typed cause.
- Signer paths are collected only for the root and its incorporated
countersignatures. Each is the exact X.509 path verification validated:
its certificates are found by the evidence's path identities among
KeyInfo values and the caller's pool, then re-checked by the shared
path processor with the operation's provider, certificate-signature
permissions and validation instant.
- xml-sec gains original-tree navigation (inspect_node, first_child,
next_sibling, subtree_contains, with_base64), VerifiedSession lookups
(resolve_bare_name_in, resolve_digest_method_in, digest_in,
certificate_path_verifier, certificate_parser, certificate_path_bounds,
execution), a public CertificatePathVerifier and
X509TrustEvidence::{validation_instant, certificate_identity_in}.
Bare-name resolution shares the dereference kernel's fragment
unescaping and ID semantics. Documented in docs/xmldsig.md.
- scripts/generate-xades-fixtures.sh issues a root, intermediate and
signer path with fixed validity dates and has xmlsec1 sign enveloped,
enveloping, detached, parallel, countersigned, SHA-384-only and
nested-signature B-B fixtures plus adversarial variants.

- Walking KeyInfo and decoding X509Certificate text are XML queries and now spend the request's execution; the X.509 account keeps only the retained certificate bytes, parsing and path checks. Regression test: key_info_navigation_spends_the_request_execution. - Reference/@type, QualifyingProperties/@target and DigestMethod/@Algorithm are xs:anyURI, whose whiteSpace facet is collapse (XSD 1.0 4.3.6). Edge whitespace no longer breaks the SignedProperties binding, the target resolution or the certificate digest method lookup. Regression tests: uri_attributes_bind_after_whitespace_collapse (new padded-uris fixture) and the padded DigestMethod case in session_lookups. - Fixtures are regenerated with the padded-uris variant.
