Propose ÜBERSETZUNGEN.txt: shared glossary and entity reference#227
Merged
Conversation
Add a minimum-viable glossary and entity reference file for German translators, mirroring the role of doc-fr/TRADUCTIONS.txt. Content is derived from existing conventions in the current doc-de corpus and from recurring review feedback (entity usage, refpurpose style). Open to changes in scope, naming, or formatting. The intent is to lower the on-boarding effort for new contributors and to give existing ones a common reference for terminology decisions.

Shouldn't personalization be generally be avoided in the manual (except for instructions)?
Per review feedback, soften the recommendation around direct address. Describe the existing mix of "Sie" and impersonal form, and recommend the impersonal form as the default for new translations, keeping "Sie" acceptable in instructional passages.

Adds a minimum-viable glossary and entity reference for German translators, mirroring the role of
doc-fr/TRADUCTIONS.txt. Content is derived from the existing doc-de corpus and from recurring review feedback (entity usage, refpurpose style).Scope intentionally kept small (~100 lines) so the proposal can be discussed and adjusted without becoming a moving target. Happy to rename, restructure, expand the dictionary, or drop the file if it's not the right shape.
